New Oddwalk iPhone App!
FacebookTwitterLinkedInPinterestGoogle+EmailShare

You might have caught a sneak peak in the sidebar of the blog yesterday: our new Oddwalk iPhone (and iPod Touch) app is live!  It’s a FREE app to help you stay in touch with Orin and Shannon, and our music and ministries. You can view videos, listen to complete songs, check out our calendar, follow our tweets, and play some puzzle games.  New content will be automatically added all the time too!  Check out the screen shots below.

To get the app, just click here, and you’ll be redirected to the iTunes store either on your mac/pc or iPhone/iPod Touch.  We’ll leave the link up in the sidebar as well, and on our merchandise page too, in case you don’t have one of these gadgets now but will someday. Hope you enjoy this nifty new way to stay connected with Oddwalk!

Double or Nothing?
FacebookTwitterLinkedInPinterestGoogle+EmailShare

by oddwalk — Categories: baseball, friends, games, ministry, odd1 Comment

Oddwalk last week lost a bet with Vancouverite and Youth Ministry Dude Clayton Imoo when the St. Louis Blues lost to the Vancouver Canucks in a sweep during the first round of the NHL playoffs.

Now Vancouver is slated to take on the Chicago Blackhawks, and the rumor on Twitter is that Clay is looking for another fan to place a wager with.  True, the Hawks are a big rival of the Blues (though not as big as Detroit is), but Shannon was born and raised in Illinois, and Orin of course is employed at the Shrine in Illinois.

We propose a double-or-nothing wager with Clay: If The Hawks win, Oddwalk is off the hook, and we’re even.  If however Vancouver wins, we’ll not only video ourselves singing “O Cananda” and extol the virtues of Vancouver and the Canucks, we’ll also do so with one of us wearing a dress.

Orin portrays typical Shrine visitor "Ethel" at a Shrine employee breakfast in 2002.

We’ll let you know if he takes us up on the offer!

UPDATE!

10:17 AM CDT – Clay has counter-offered, and we accept! In addition to the above conditions, the “extolation” of Vancouver and of the Canucks shall be rapped. Stay tuned!

Let’s Go Blues! (Beat that other team from… Canada? Yeah, that’s it.)

imagesBeing from in and around St. Louis, Oddwalk congratulates the St. Louis Blues on their last minute surge into the NHL playoffs. In the first round they are taking on the Vancouver Canucks. We’ve got a “friend” up there, Clayton Imoo, who is perhaps the biggest Vancouver fan, along with the rest of his family, I mean, just check out his site.

So we’ve put together a friendly wager on this series. And, we might point out, we made the bet even before the Blues lost game one, and we’re still going to honor it, even though we only just now had toime to post about it on the Oddblog.

Here are the Terms:

If St. Louis wins:

-Clay will post a video on his website singing a blues song about the St. Louis Blues and how great they are and how they will win the Cup.

If Vancouver wins:

-Oddwalk will post a video on their website singing “O Canada” followed by a brief commentary on how the Canucks will win the cup, all while saying “eh” in every sentence.

So, Blues fans, stay tuned! Sound like we already know who the real winners will be: no one.

We have many other photos and stories to tell of our great trip to Hamilton, Bermuda last week – but for now, let’s start with this quick video shot with Orin’s iPhone, proving Oddwalk has so much more to offer than music, storytelling, prayer… Well… We’ll let you be the judge:

Look, a nifty flyer!

Our dear friend, AI classmate, and neighbor Katie is joining a religious order this fall – yay religious life!  To do so, however, she must first pay off all her debt and living expenses for her first year with the order.  Read the flyer on the left – or visit her “Support Katie’s Habit” blog – for more info as to why that is, which order she plans to join, why, etc….

The amount of money to be raised is not insignificant – $17,000 or so.  Please consider coming to a Bingo Fundraiser on April 17, 7pm, at St. Margaret of Scotland in St. Louis.  Your favorite Oddwalk guys will be the emcees for the night, and there will be fabulous prizes, fun side games, and other exciting activities.

A “Support Katie’s Habit” (isn’t that a great name?) widget (thanks, muddys!) will hangout in our sidebar until the event, or until Katie has raised the necessary funds.  At least if you can’t offer support financially, please keep Katie in prayer!
