Turns out, October 16th is even more of a special day than we had originally thought.  As some of you already know, Madeleine Cerneka (Erin and Shannon’s oldest) turns 6!


Also in our thoughts and prayers today is this morning’s arrival of Josephine Grace, the brand-new daughter of our friends, Ricky and Tania Willmann.  Some of you may remember Ricky as being part of the Oddwalk backing band from time to time.  Ricky’s facebook says says: 

Baby Josephine Grace was born at 12:58am! After a long week it is such a great reward. She is 5 pounds 4 ounces. Both her and mom are doing great. Thank you so much for all the prayers and support we received, in the end everything turned out beautiful.

On this very special day, Happy Birthday to Madeleine and Josephine from all of us in the Oddwalk family!!

Born 3am today, May 30, 2009.  7 lbs. 10 oz. and 20 inches long.  All are doing great, reports the proud Dad.  Here are a few pics he sent to Orin from his phone for quick posting, I’m sure better ones will follow soon!  Congratulations to all!  And, I’ll resist the urge to turn him into a zombie (see posts from a couple days ago) just yet…

So, if you hang out with us regularly, you probably know that my daughter, Madeleine, celebrated her fourth birthday on October 16th. There was nothing, however, posted on the blog about it, and for that I’m really sorry. My wife pointed out the ommission to me yesterday. For all the pointless stuff we put up on this blog, I shouln’t have missed this.
My little girl is awesome, outgoing (maybe more than me), smart, funny, creative, and full of life. I truly can’t imagine life without her (nor the rest of my family for that matter). She makes my life so much brighter.

Here, for your enjoyment, is a recent conversation she had with a parent and fellow classmate from pre-school:

Adult (to the other kid): What does your dad do for a living?

Other Kid: My dad drives a truck
Adult (to Madeleine): And what does your dad do for a living?

Madeleine (almost with a shrug): Oh, my dad works with Jesus.

Erin’s Birthday Weekend

Orin’s wife Erin celebrated a birthday on the 18th. Here are a few pictures of the celebrations.

The night before her birthday, Orin and Erin stayed at HoteLumiere, which is not the new hotel Erin is sadly pointing at in the picture.  We thought it was, but oh well.  We did have a good time though!

On Sunday, Erin planned a big bingo extravaganza.  Earlier in the afternoon, Many folks came over to prepare by eating lots of food and decorating bingo bags.  Here’s Erin and Elise.

Then later it was off to bingo at St. Stephen’s in Caseyville, IL.  We took over two tables with 18 or so people.  No one one, though Katie did have a “wait” (being one number away) on the final game, a cover-all with a $500 prize.  At the above table was Orin (taking the picture) and Br. Ricky, “Aunt” Peggy, Mom Pam, Jennifer, Jason, Br. Ray, and Emily.

At this table were Pete, Danielle, Katie, Megan, Brad, Jolene, The Birthday Girl, Erin C, Elise, and Stefanie.  A good time was had by all (we think)!  Happy birthday Erin!
