On Oddwalk’s recent trip to Bermuda to lead retreats, both days of retreats we ended with a closing prayer where we invited the students to gather around a large wooden cross we had found backstage in their theater. We invited the teens to pray, and reflect that while the cross of Christ is heavy, and that while we’re all called to carry our own, we can, much of the time, lean on the support of our Christian community for help.
Returning home, Orin was inspired to write a new piece for the veneration of the cross, one of his favorite liturgical moments of the Triduum. Subconsciously moved by the Bermuda experience, he wrote the song new on the pOddcast today, “Gather at the Cross” — it’s just a quick demo done in GarageBand, and it actually has nearly endless verses, but you can get a taste by listening in to the recent upload. You can find the pOddcast in the sidebar, just look for the gcast window or the iTunes logo.
We’ll be singing it at the Shrine today during the 3pm service.
A blessed Good Friday to all.
