Shannon here. A few months back, I revealed that my family had been going through a bit of darkness, centered around my wife’s recent job loss. I know that many of you prayed for and supported us during that time. I just want to say how grateful we are for how active the body of Christ was/is in our lives. Things would have been very different without it. We thank God for you.
The update is that Erin has found a new job! She will, once again, be working as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, this time at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. Erin already loves the position, the unit she works in, the people she’s met, and even her boss. This job even features a bit of a pay bump!
The only downside (and I use that term VERY lightly) to this new position is that Erin will be working two and a half hours away from home. While this hardship is cut a little by the twenty-four-hour shifts she’ll be assigned, it will still be a major hurdle for her/us to get over. Some of you may be wondering why we are commuting, why we wouldn’t just move to Springfield. The answer is that we LOVE what we have in Fulton. We are close-ish to family, our friends are here, we love our house, my job, and our wonderful parish. We simply don’t want to leave. Of course, if this arrangement becomes too much of a strain on the family, we will be forced to reevaluate. But for now, Fulton is where we live and Springfield is where Erin works.
As we settle into what we’re calling the new normal, please continue your prayers for us. We will be praying for you, too.
