Words and Music by Shannon Cerneka and Orin Johnson
You can put a ham into the toaster, you can fill your livingroom with sand.
You can tie your cat up to the ceiling fan, and scream as he scratches off your hand.
You can mail yourself a box of cookies, and try to look surprised as they arrive.
Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should, if only that was how we lived our lives.
You can call yourself the king of Sweden, you can get into an eyebrow fight.
You can wear a donut for a bracelet, and wonder if it’s wise to take a bite.
You can race a spider down the sidewalk, then point and laugh, and tell him that he’s slow.
Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should, it seems like that’s the better way to go.
You can take your goldfish to a movie, you can dunk your head in Mountain Doo.
You can make your grandma do some push-ups, then tell her she’s a quitter when she’s through.
You can teach a gerbil to speak German, and stitch for him some lederhosen too.
Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should, ’cause I don’t think your mother would approve.
You can trade your sister for a monkey, you can blow balloons up with your nose.
You can offer cheese to all your teachers, then gladly hand it to them with your toes.
You can use a barbie for a prom date, then get mad when she leaves with your best friend.
Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should, rejoice! ‘Cause we’re finally at THE END.
